Carpet and Rug Serging

Serging on odd shapes
Serging is the process of whip-stitching yarn (over-casting) over the edge of any floor covering material to make an area rug. Serging is commonly applied to Sisals and Berbers and is the type of edge treatment most often used on “Oriental” style rugs.

Serged Rug

This rug is a perfect example of serging and carpet borders because the type of material used to make the rug required that each component of the rug be serged before seaming it together into a finished bordered rug.
